Grades will be: S or U
Participation
Only Doctor’s notes will be accepted for total non-participation. Doctor’s notes must include a description of the restrictions and dates the restriction apply.
Students are expected to dress and participate daily. Any injury/illness should be brought to the attention of your teacher before class begins. Alternative lessons or activities will be assigned as necessary.
Punctuality
Students must be in the locker room when the bell rings or will be marked tardy.
Students must be dressed and in line for attendance 4 min. after the bell or will be “class tardy” instructor to determine consequence.
Students are to remain in locker room until the bell at the end of class.
Appropriate Dress
ALL students are to wear gym shorts and T-shirts (red, white and gray only), tennis shoes, socks, sweat pants and sweat shirts (any color when outside for warmth). Apply appropriate behaviors which exemplify each of the personal/social character traits of constructive competition, initiative, and leadership in dynamic setting.
NOT Acceptable
Dress shirts, tank tops, sweaters, jeans, jeans shorts, cargo pants/shorts, shirts or pants with holes or inappropriate words or logos, or anything deemed inappropriate by the instructor. Clothes are to be worn in the manner in which they were intended. Do not remove sleeves or collars.
JEWLERY
All jewelry must be removed and locked in our locker before gym class begins.
Locks and Lockers
School locks and lockers will be provided. You must only use school locks. Personal locks are not allowed and will be removed. Memorize your combination; DO NOT give anyone your combination. You are responsible for your lock and knowing its combination.
Lockers are provided for gym class, all gym class lockers are located on the inner banks of lockers the OUTSIDE BANKS OF LOCKERS ARE USED FOR INSEASON SPORTS (LARGER LOCKERS DESINGED TO HOLD ATHLETIC EQUIPMENT) TEAM EQUIPMENT FOUND IN GYM CLASS LOCKERS WILL BE REMOVED AND PUT IN THE LOST AND FOUND CONTAINER LOCATER IN THE LOCKER ROOM!! DO NOT PUT TEAM EQUIPMENT IN GYM CLASS LOCKERS!!!
First Aid/Hygiene
Report any suspected injury to your instructor immediately, especially bleeding. Showers are available, however you must provide a towel, shampoo, deodorant, ECT. To leave in your locker (no glass containers). Your classmates and teachers will appreciate it!
Health Slips
Health slips need to be taken home and filled out by your parent/guardian and returned the next physical education day. Any physical limitations should be listed on the health slip forms. All forms must be signed and returned.
Class Goals
The goal of our class is develop good fitness habits and enjoy exercise Junior high is a great time to participate in exercise sports/games and develop fitness skills. Good health and fitness begins with a positive attitude about yourself when you are young. When exercise is enjoyable and present in your life you will be healthier. Our curriculum may include fitness testing, team and individual sports, team building activities, weight training, games and many other activities.
Expectations
1. Be prepared for class. If you forget/need gym cloths you can rent them ($1.00). Renting gym cloths means you will pay the rental fee frailer to pay YOUR fee will result in extra running/paper work/fines sent to office/hand washing of YOUR dirty rented gym suits.
2. Treat others with respect and the ability to get along with others is foundational in this class and it will be reflected in your grade.
3. No whining!! A negative attitude will also be reflected in your grade.
4. Each day will include a warm-up and an activity. You are expected to do your best and cooperate throughout the period.
5. We will run every day (during warm-up).
1 Mile Run
Meet the criterion-referenced cardiorespiratory health-related fitness standards for age and gender. (e.g. one mile run, 12 min. run) and/ or show improvement from pre 1 mile run.
Push-ups
Meet the criterion-referenced muscular strength and endurance health-related fitness standards for age and gender (e.g. curl-up, push-up).and/or show improvement from pre push-up test.
Sit-up
Meet the criterion-referenced muscular strength and endurance health-related fitness standards for age and gender (e.g. curl-up, push-up).and/or show improvement from pre sit-up test.
